Ministry of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia and the World Bank are jointly preparing for implementation of “Mongolia’s transport connectivity and logistics improvement project” aimed to build and renovate roads to support local economy, and to create other infrastructure necessary for the development of specialized logistics for agriculture products including the value chain of meat supply.

The project is planned to be implemented with the following components: infrastructure construction, logistics, supply chain platform, technical assistance and capacity building.

In the first component, by providing local cattle herders with close access to road network it will improve road efficiency, transport logistics, help producing fully processed meat products that meet international standards and to create a cold supply chain system.

The next component is national logistics services and system improvement activities. In this framework, a supply chain platform will be developed to connect herders, operators and logistics companies to the market. It will also provide an opportunity to develop logistics service contracts to support the value chain of livestock products through institutional arrangements to support innovative innovation projects.

The third component will include market research and capacity building training for future logistics centers to lay the foundations for improved transport and logistics services.

As part of the project preparation, the Ministry of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia and the World Bank have jointly developed documents on mitigating potential risks during the project implementation, the project's social protection policy, adverse environmental impacts and ways to address them.
